The New AbsoluteB.com… Finally!
AbsoluteBWelcome! It’s been a long time coming and it’s taken a lot of time and effort and many, many sleepless nights, but it’s finally completed, and not just that, its actually up and running! The new AbsoluteB.com is here and it’s live! Yaaay!
AbsoluteB isn’t a face lift of the previous version. This is a complete overhaul from the ground up! I started on blank sheet of paper and I’ve been back to the drawing board on several occasions just to get things right (technically this is AbsoluteB version 7.2 if I’m honest). Naturally the biggest obstacles for me involved deciding what direction to take this personal endeavor. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been attempting to to create a richer, faster and even move exciting designs than the last, and though I still try this in everything that I do, I must say that this version actually required me to take a few steps back from what I was used to. Rather, simple, clean and less BOOM where the initial ground rules of this project.
If I refer to about 10 years ago, a project would probably mean adding as much Flash and animation as one could cram into a site! Just see the first few versions of AbsoluteB to see what I’m talking about. But not just that, back then I designed sites for clients, mostly based in the US, requiring a different kind of out-of-the-box thinking. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it and learned a lot as it gave me a lot of freedom to experiment with what I was capable of achieving, however, it took my portfolio in a direction that I couldn’t really control at the time, and for this version of AbsoluteB, it’s actually something I had to temporarily “unlearn”.
The previous version of AbsoluteB was 2 years old! That’s like 50 in human years! It was seriously time to get with the program and show clients, potential hirers and everyone else just what I had learnt in that time, because compared to the years before, I have actually had very few opportunities to do much graphical design. Instead, I have been much more involved in the development of projects, front and back, and this is something the last version of AbsoluteB did not convey very well.
In any case, the past 2 years have provided some exciting experiences from which I learnt so much and I only hope that this trend continues, and that with this new installment of AbsoluteB, that sharing those experiences will become even easier!
I hope that you will bookmark, or better yet, subscribe to my RSS feed and check back frequently to see what I’ve been up to, and of course, feel completely free to leave a comment or send me a message!
